"...The Cognitive Aptitude Assessment Software has a data collection system with unparalleled flexibility and ease of use!" ...University of Massachusetts Psychology Professor James Mike Royer Ph.D., of the Laboratory for the Assessment and Training of Academic Skills

The Researcher Version - Intended for University Researchers who are interested in designing and running their own experiments using the engine of our product. There are numerous researchers who are using the product for that end.
  • Range of Stimuli - Allows you to present a wide range of stimuli in your research. You can present text, audio files, pictures and videos as stimuli in experiments. The text can be any language and it is even possible to conduct experiments using languages with ideographic writing systems.
  • Methods of Responding - Your participants can respond using a microphone (voice key), left or right mouse buttons or programmed keys for decision tasks, or screen button presses for multiple choice or survey studies. Each of these options is easy to create using the Designer module.
  • Use Previously Developed Tasks - The CAAS system comes with a range of experiments that have already been developed. These include word naming tasks, math fact retrieval tasks, concept activation tasks, sentence understanding tasks, SAT math item tasks, and a mental rotation task. You can use these tasks in your own experiments or you can use the structure of the tasks as a model of creation of your own experiments that use similar stimuli.
  • Design Your Own Experiments - The Designer Module allows easy design of your experiments. You can select stimuli to be presented, you can choose from a variety of response modes, you can control the timing of both stimuli and responses, and you can easily randomize stimulus presentation.
  • Create Audio Files - The CAAS Recorder Module allows you to create audio files containing words, sentences, paragraph length material, or sounds that you generate yourself. The Recorder Module allows you to create the recording and then edit it so it contains the exact material you want to present to your participants.
  • Reporting - Your data can be presented as comma delimited files allowing easy transport to data analysis programs. Item level accuracy and time data is available for every stimulus item. In addition, summary data can be presented in tabular form (means and SDs) or in graphical form (2D and 3D graphs).

The Reading Success Lab Releases The Cognitive Aptitude Assessment Software For Use At Home And At School

Take our FREE Reading And Dyslexia Screening Test. This unique test measures not only the accuracy of the reader's responses to the test questions, but also how quickly the reader was able to answer each question. Our software measures the speed of response, identifying those reading skills that the reader has thoroughly mastered and those reading skills that are not yet automatic. Our Research-Based Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment For Reading Difficulties Module - Identifies a wide range of reading difficulties and determines where the reading process is breaking down. With the software we are able to present the task items on a computer screen and have the student respond into a microphone. This gives us a measure of response time that differentiates between readers with varying skill levels.

Our Skill Builder Module was designed as an intervention to build reading skill levels for identified weaknesses.

The Reading Success Lab Reading Intervention Program - Helps readers build word recognition skills. The logic behind building automatic word recognition skills is based on the ideas that words that are recognized by thinking about them makes reading a laborious process. This can cause increasingly greater difficulties as a student moves into junior and senior high school where the reading load in subject matter areas such as science, math and social studies greatly increases.
