Frequently Asked Questions I am having trouble getting the headphone and the microphone work with the Cognitive Aptitude Assessment Software. Comment: The headphone and the microphone appear to have no response. We tested the headphone and the microphone and they worked well. Do you have any suggestion of how to make them work with the CAAS system? Answer: On the problem system you need to 1st establish if Audio In/Out work independently of the CAAS system. For audio out you need to locate a WAV file and play it. The easiest way to do this is to select Start | Search | Files or Folders. Then in the top edit box select files named *.wav. Then click the Search Now button. After a number of sound files have been located you can stop the search. You can cause any of the located files to play by double clicking it. If it does not play audibly then the problem is with the system. You can adjust the system volume settings for playback by selectingStart | Run then enter in the editbox sndvol32, then OK. This will popup the Playback volume control. Make sure the output has not been Muted. You can adjust the volume higher by dragging the bar higher. For the audio in, run the system sound recorder, Start | Run | sndrec32 . You should be able to make a recording and play it back audibly. You can run the system volume control for recording with Start | Run then sndvol32 /recording.
